Elements of 3D Design

Symmetrical Balance- when shapes are mirrored on either side of an axis, as in a composition that is vertically divided down the center.

Asymmetrical balance- creates equilibrium among visual elements that do not mirror each other on either side of an axis.

Radial Symmetry- lines and shapes are mirrored both vertically and horizontally with the center of the composition acting as a focal point.

Scale- refers to the size of a form when compared with our own human size.

Proportion- refers to the relative size of visual elements within an image.

Emphasis- special attention given to some aspect of a composition to increase its prominence.

Contrast- when two or more forces operate in opposition.

Variety- the differences that give design visual and conceptual interest, notably, use of contrast, emphasis, differences, in size , and so forth.

Repetition- the use of the same visual element or effect a number of times in the same composition.

Rhythm- presentation of multiple units in a deliberate pattern.
